Stefan Volatile-Wood’s love for the arts began at a very young age: his middle and high school years in Georgia, Vermont were completely dominated by art classes and most of his free time was spent dreaming up and drawing strange and elaborate creations. After graduating from high school, he made the decision to keep pursuing his hobby and chose to attend the Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Upon entering, he selected illustration as his declared major; a field dedicated to general-purpose imagemaking for magazines, books, posters, and any number of other unique applications. In this setting, he found both the structure and the creative freedom he needed to not only improve his technical abilities, but also to develop his creative voice and style. Citing influences as diverse as Chris Van Allsburg, H.R. Giger and Bill Watterson, he strives to give his work a heavy sense of atmosphere, infusing realism with a touch of the surreal, otherworldly and unexpected.
He currently a student in Boson, Massachusetts where he is entering his senior year in the illustration department.
