Born in Bermuda, Barbara Hamm started art before attending school, with pieces of crayons and unclaimed paper. Going to school provided art instruction with two one-hour classes a week. She learned primary colours while playing with watercolors. Many years later in 1969, Barbara took a class in oil from a friend. In 1986, she studied acrylics with Michael Wheeler in Sintra, Portugal. Through the years (38 as the wife of an active duty naval officer) she moved 23 times and was fortunate to have lived in two foreign countries, traveled to many cities, and resided in and visited some of the loveliest cities in the U.S. Her travels allowed her to visit many museums and churches and view great works of art.
