More of Steve Jackson’s drawings from our figure drawing sessions. I will be scheduling more sessions after the new year and will keep everyone posted on new dates as they are planned. I would also like to have a small showing of the work generated from the sessions in the spring so keep that in...

High Lonesome
Sunday afternoon featured more local musical talent with acoustic duo Carol Jones and Ero Lippold of High Lonesome. What a treat and perfect for the holidays! Their next gig is at the Blue Star Cafe in Winooski on December 21 at 8:30. You can check out the short clip below, but please excuse the...
Pronounced "Le-in"
Local author Leon Thompson (who happens to be my co-worker and good friend) had the crowd in tears Friday night while reading material from his two books titled “Good Junk” and “Dork.” Both volumes are collections of his (mostly) humor columns written (mostly) for the St. Albans Messenger newspaper. It was a fun night...
More from the Students…
County Courier staffer Greg Lamoureux attended the recent BFA student art reception (last Thursday) and has put together a great multimedia presentation on the newspaper’s website. Featuring interviews of the student artists and their teachers, it’s a great thing for those who missed the reception. Go here and click on the art within the photo for...
Student Professionals
Thursday night the gallery featured the artwork of four students from Bellows Free Academy- St. Albans. The reception was the first in a series of month-long exhibits to be held at the gallery throughout the rest of the academic year. Three of the four artists, Katie Brown, Sharlene Seymour and Brittany Dupont (Anthony Begins was...
Jazzy Night
Last night the gallery featured its first live musicians for one of our holiday receptions. Local talent Fabian Rainville and friend Oliver Jacobson entertained the crowd with some excellent jazz guitar and violin. Both are attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston. (And the gallery’s acoustics proved to be quite nice…)
The gallery still has...
Congratulations!
Just a note of congrats to our artist Jennifer Steinmetz and her husband Chris on the birth of their first child, Harper Everett-Marie Steinmetz.
The Group Grows
Last night we had a good crowd for our second figure drawing session with 13 artists participating. We almost ran out of seats! It was especially encouraging to see two local high school students joining the group. Though they were a little wide-eyed and nervous to begin with they quickly eased into it and...
VAC Grants
Sonia Rae, VAC Community Programs Manager
Yesterday, I attended the grant writers workshop put on by the Vermont Arts Council and sponsored by the St. Albans Artists Guild in the Bliss Auditorium at the St. Albans Historical Museum. Some of our more experienced artists may know already about the VAC and its programs, but I had...
